On December 16th, Sony Spain celebrated the second edition of the PlayStation Spain Awards, an initiative to promote local independent games to become a real product. Three teams from Gamebcn participated, with very good results!

The recently incubated team Pixel Cream won the PlayStation Award 2015 for the Best Spanish Project with Independent Development with their Way of Redemption. The Game mixes action and sport games for four players. It was praised “for their innovative gameplay mechanics, its design and its multiplayer possibilities” by Roberto López-Yeste, the ‎Senior New Business Development Manager of Sony Computer Entertainment Spain.

The Award carries a prize of €10,000 and the publication of the title on the PlayStation Network. Furthermore, there is a promo campaign, a developers kit and the winning team will have a workspace for ten months.

In addition, the studio StrangeLight Games won the Award of the Best Use of PlayStation Platforms with its game Super Red-Hot Hero, a mix between Super Mario and the Megaman series.  StrangeLight Games is an alumni team, having participated in the 2014 edition of Gamebcn.

 

Finally the shoot’em up game Polarity of the Incuva studio, also incubated in Gamebcn this very year, was nominated for 3 awards:

  • Most innovative idea” due to its revolutionary gameplay and visual aspects
  • “Best Game according to the press”  due to the results in a vote from the professional sector.
  • “Best Use of PlayStation Technologies” for an excellent visual performance and exploitation of the resources of the platform.

Congratulations to these 3 studios for their awards and nominations, we hope that these will be the first of many successes during the stay at Gamebcn.
