Description
Hyperarousal is a first-person psychological horror game set in Valcamonica, Italy.
The story follows a man who retreats to his family home in the mountains and begins reliving fragments of his ancestors’ lives through dreams. Moving between the present and different historical periods, the game explores memory, intergenerational trauma, folklore and altered perception.
At the core of the experience is the Hyperarousal System, developed in collaboration with a clinical psychologist. It reacts to the way the player moves through the world, changing perception, sound and the way certain elements are revealed.
There is no combat. The experience is built around exploration, environmental storytelling, psychological tension and puzzles, with each dream introducing its own setting, rules and mechanics.
